The goal of our art program is to instill in the students a joy and appreciation of participating in a variety of art activities. This includes drawing, painting, collage, origami, and animation. The children are also introduced to many artists and illustrators. (1st – 5th grades)
St. Timothy’s computer class prepares our students for a successful transition to the academic challenges in middle school and beyond. There are three specific goals which we strive to achieve through the computer program. The first goal is to provide the students with the keyboarding skills necessary for touch typing. The second goal is to become familiar with a variety of programs such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, page layout, simple web design and simple photo editing. The third goal is to teach the students how to use the computer for communication and research. These goals are achieved through a curriculum developed by Beyond Technology Education. This curriculum challenges the students to think critically as well as provide them with a fun and rewarding experience. Our partnership with Beyond Technology Education also provides teachers with ongoing professional development. (Kindergarten – 5th grade)
St. Timothy’s library currently has 10,000+ books. The librarian coordinates with teachers to enhance the learning experience. At St. Timothy’s we encourage the love of reading through: Scholastic Book Fairs, National Library Week, Read Across America Day, the California Young Readers program, visits by authors, Barnes and Noble/Pajamarama Event and summer reading programs. Parents are able to view our database of books online using the Follett/Destiny Software allowing our families and students to check availability of books both from school or home. Library is open before school, during recess and after school for students and families to check out books. Reading is the gateway to success. (Preschool 2’s – 5th grade)
Worship & Performing Arts
At St. Timothy's our purpose for Worship and Performing Arts is to celebrate as a community, and to make the name of Jesus famous on the earth. Through Worship and Performing Arts (WPA) our students are not only singing a new song, but are also gaining confidence and character, while identifying and developing their own unique gifts and abilities. Weekly WPA classes are designed to allow hands on exploration of song, sound, and stage, and to use what is learned to create original performance experiences. In addition to weekly classes, St. Tim's offeres optional, after-school clubs, where students can focus on specific WPA skills such as dance, theater, or worship leading.
The main goal of St. Timothy’s P.E. program is to instill a positive attitude and desire for a physically active lifestyle along with learning new skills, teamwork, and creating a healthy self-image. In JK & K, the focus is on motor development and age appropriate skills and growth. In 1st – 5th grades, some of the core activities are skill development, the Mileage Club, President’s Challenge and other special events. (JK – 5th grade)
Science Enrichment is an additional Science time students (grades K-5th) receive on top of the Science curriculum in their homeroom class. It is meant to be a time for hands-on exploration, deeper observation, and experimentation to enhance the curriculum for each grade level.
