Kindergarten

Kindergarten provides the necessary foundation for the spiritual, academic, and social development of each child. Children engage in a wide range of experiences that help them find true and lasting success as unique individuals created by God. Children become learners through discovery and play and engage in a wide range of developmental activities that produce a life-long love of learning.

The reading/language arts program emphasizes a strong phonics base and beginning reading and writing. Using hands-on activities, students develop an understanding of beginning mathematical concepts. The science curriculum is based on the explorations of God's creation. Biblical truth is taught through Old and New Testament stories, character trait studies, and Bible memorization. Social Studies is introduced through topics on the family, community, and patriotism.

Students are assessed on the most significant Common Core State Standards in the areas of language arts, math, social studies, and science. In addition, music, physical education, computers and library are taught by subject area specialists.

Testimonials

Laura Norris "I am amazed by the transformation of both of my kids after attending Kindergarten at St. Timothy's. They started in the fall as rambunctious preschoolers, and emerged in the spring as responsible and confident boys. Despite differences in their development and learning styles, both kids flourished with the individual attention they received. Just as importantly, they loved getting up and going to school in the morning."

George and Natalie Engurasoff "Both of our boys have been through the St. Timothy's Kindergarten program and the experience they had is by far the greatest any parent could ever expect. My older son still stops by to visit. This is the type of impact this class has had on him, the relationships this class establishes with their students is priceless. I will recommend St. Timothy's to all of our friends with kids going into preschool and kindergarten."

Liz Palfreyman "Under the gentle, loving guidance of the St. Timothy's kindergarten teachers, my daughter grew not only in academic matters but also in self confidence and time management skills. She says they're the best teachers ever!"

Therese Moss "We loved Kindergarten at St. Timothy's. My little girl is thriving socially, academically, and spiritually. It's such a pleasure to watch her growing and blossoming. The environment couldn't be better. Great Program. Great School. Great Parents. Great Kids!"

Jeffrey Hayes "St. Timothy's Kindergarten Class: A. A place where children learn social development, and the teachers here have a "T" in their name; Terrific, Treasured, and Trusted. B. Truly talented mentors have structured mechanics, for an ideal learning environment; furthermore, a spirit to enlighten our children's minds."

Sam Wire "I believe the smaller teacher to student ratios helped my son learn to read much quicker. My son has been able to get more 1 on 1 time with his teachers that I felt was essential at this early stage of his education. I may be biased, but I think St. Tim's has the best Kindergarten teachers in California."

Bob and Lareine Mitri "We selected St. Timothy's because of its outstanding academic reputation and strong Christian foundation. The children receive a high quality education in a small class setting. The teachers are top notch, take an active role in each child's development, and strongly encourage parent participation. Most importantly, the kids feel secure, nurtured, and loved in a Christian environment. Whether it be Kindergarten or the upper elementary grades, we can think of no other place we would send our children than St. Timothy's Christian Academy."
